The Centenary Rose Park was established during 1995, as a commonerative Garden to the Centenary celebrations of Udhagamandalam Flower Show at Government Botanical Garden, Udhagai. The Park posesses as many as 3000 varieties of Roses collected from different parts of the nation and other countries and acclaimed as largest collection of Roses in a single place. The Indian Rose Federation recommended the Centenary Rose park, Udhagai for the
“Garden of Excellence” from International Rose Federation.
Accordingly the Vice President, International Rose Federeation visited the Centenary Rose Park, Udhagai on 09.01.2005 and Awarded the “Garden of Excellence” award to this park at World Rose convention held at Osaka, Japan in May 2006.
The Plaque of Garden Excellence was presented at the silver Jubilee, All India Rose Convention and Rose Show held at Pune on 13 th January 2007 by Mr. Mian Jafer Iqbal, Vice President WFRS ( Asia Region) and the Plauqe was received by the Joint Director of Horticulture, Udhagai on behalf of Government of Tamilnadu and Mr. Krishnakumar, President, Nilgiris Rose Society. The Centenary Rose park, Udhagai is the 16 th Rose Garden in the World and first of its kind in South East Asia to receive this award.
